It's almost here... the end of Summer. The days of sleeping in, lazy afternoons on the couch, camping and catching fireflies and chasing ice cream trucks are coming to an end and before we know it, we'll be walking to the bus stop, scheduling parent teacher conferences and packing lunches. Where has the time gone?
This morning I caught myself staring at the calendar asking myself if I did everything I could to make this Summer amazing for my kids and what I could do to make the last few weeks of it even better. In that moment, I challenged myself and I'm 100% committed to this!
Each day from now until the first day of school I will do at least one amazing thing with my kids. Something that they'll remember, laugh about and love. I'm calling it the 'Last Weeks of Summer Challenge' and hope you'll join me!
What will this look like? Here are my ideas. They are nothing extravagant by any means but intentional - and that's what matters the most.
- Water balloon fight
- Afternoon picnic in a wooded park
- Make our own ice cream
- Backyard S'Mores over the fire pit
- Draw a family portrait to frame and hang (I want my kids to each draw one)
- Beach day
- Make our own comic books
- Camp (even just in the back yard is ok)
- Read a book together under a shaded tree
- Go to the GRAM
- Stargaze
- Michigan's Adventure
- Hide and Seek
- Dance Party
- Mad Libs
So... looking at my list, there is only one thing that will cost me a bit of money. We can head to the GRAM on one of their free days and the rest is stuff we already have around the house, is within a short driving distance and would provide tons and tons of laughter and fun.
I don't know about you but I can't wait!
Here's the the last few weeks of summer!
