“I Did It Myself!” - Every Mom’s Favorite Words

Lunchtime Made Easy With Kraft Heinz

By Toni Garcia, Publisher & Editor September 12, 2020

Back to school is here and our family has made the decision to do it all from home with the support of the district's online options. With having to juggle and balance my time between work and school, the more my kids can take care of themselves, the better … especially when it comes to lunchtime.

We’ve been working really hard with our kids these past few months to teach them to be more independent and have a sense of pride and ownership in the things they do. With having to balance work, remote learning, laundry and endless video chats, trying to figure out what they will eat shouldn’t be another thing on my to-do list.

I’m proud to say that they have fully embraced the daily task of making their own lunches and Kraft Heinz has the perfect variety of products for a different meal each day. It’s a win-win, for sure!

Our weekly Walmart grocery list is now partially planned by our kids and they have control over the items they want for their lunches (with our final approval, of course). This week’s choices consisted of Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Crinkle fries (these are microwaveable and ready in 5 minutes - and they’re good!), Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Mesquite Smoked Turkey, Kraft Singles and Capri Sun. Throw in some fresh fruit and veggies and the list is approved!

It’s been amazing to see them enjoy their new responsibilities, and what’s really been interesting is realizing that they eat more when they make the lunch themselves. Not because it’s a larger amount but because they are proud of themselves and realize the “work” that’s put into it. Long story short, If you make cooking fun and rewarding for kids, they’ll be hungry for more.

Back to school is certainly looking a lot different this year, and whether or not you’re sending your kids back into the building or keeping them home for remote learning, they still need lunch.

Take the stress out of planning back-to-school lunches and stock up at Walmart with easy kid favorites from Kraft Heinz.
